8th IAAF World Youth Championships

The IAAF World Youth Championships is an international sport competition organized by International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) for competitors who are 17 or younger.

It is held once in two years . It was first organised in 1999 in Bydgoszcz, Poland.

Further the IAAF Championships took place in 2001 Debrecen, Hungary;  2003 Sherbrooke, Canada;  2005 Marrakech, Morocco;  2007 Ostrava, Czech Republic;  2009 Brixen, Italy;  2011 Lille, France.

In 2013 for the first time ever Donetsk, Ukraine will host the Championship. This city has already got an experience of organizing athletic competition. Every year “Samsung Pole Vault Stars“ takes place here.

The IAAF World Youth Championships every time gathers about 2000 athletes from about 200 countries. During 5 days girls and boys compete in 20 disciplines of track and field program. This global sport event attracts attention of public and Mass Media from all over the world.
