[link id=”479″ tax=”post_tag” text=”Isaac Makwala”], who’s the reigning African 400m champion from Marrakech 2014, sped to a lifetime 400m best of 43.72 seconds at the 2015 Resisprint International meeting to take back his record [link id=”10077″ text=”broken by Wayde van Niekerk with 43.96″] at the IAAF Diamond League in Paris on Saturday.

Makwala, who held national records at all three sprint distances, improved on his previous African best and personal record of 44.01 set at the same venue exactly a year ago on July 6, 2014.

The 28-year-old time moves him to fifth on the world all-time list, making him the fastest non-US 400m sprinter in history.

Zambia’s [link id=”552″ tax=”post_tag” text=”Kabange Mupopo”] improved on her own national record by 0.01 with 50.86 in second place ahead of Italy’s Maria Benedicta Chigbolu, third in 51.67.
