Former world record-holder Patrick Makau from Kenya returned to winning ways with victory at the 68th Fukuoka International Marathon on Sunday in Fukuoka, Japan.

, 29, sat back in the pack throughout the race before dropping the competition at 38km to cross the finish line in 2:08:22.

Ethiopian Raji Assefa grabbed the second place in 2:08:48 while Mongolian Ser-Od Bat-Ochir settled for third in a national record time of 2:08:50.
