London 2012: Nigerian athletes to get N1.5M for each Gold medal

Nigeria athletes, who will be taking part in this summer's Olympic Games, have received a boost from Cowbell Milk as mouth watering cash prizes  of up to 1.5m Naira (10,000 USD) will be given to Gold, Silver and Bronze medalists in London.

This announcement was made at a signing ceremony held at the head office of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) at the National Stadium, Lagos on Thursday.

Aside the cash prizes to the medalist, they will also get a year’s supply of Cowbell Milk which is the official milk of Team Nigeria to the Games.

Managing Director of Promasidor Nigeria Limited, Chief Keith Richards, said that Nigeria is blessed with teeming youth with amazing sports talent, and the Olympics is a huge stage for the nation’s sport talents to fulfill their dreams and make the nation, Nigeria proud.

“For this reason, we have decided to nourish the dreams for Gold at this year’s Olympics by our partnership with the Nigeria Olympic Committee as the official milk nourishment for our athletes to the Olympic games”, he added.

“We will be rewarding outstanding athletes who win Gold, Silver and Bronze medals with N1.5m, N1m and N500, 000 respectively along with a year’s supply of Cowbell milk.”
